Following a competitive tender MTX have been awarded a multi-million pound scheme to deliver a Twin Operating Theatre and Eye Clinic project to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.
Modular Construction Works Commence Onsite
The project will be completed during 3 phases. Phase 1 will provide a temporary Eye Clinic, phase 2 will be the new Twin Theatre Facility and phase 3 will encompass the remodelling of the existing temporary Eye Clinic into a Staff Changing Area.
The groundworks and sub-structure for phase 1 have now been completed and works have commenced on the fast-track fit out of building modules. The phase 2 super structure is also in manufacture.
New Modular Operating Theatre Department
We have worked alongside our architectural partners IBI Group and our MEP consulting engineers DSSR to design a facility that will provide 2 additional storeys directly adjacent to the existing hospital street, where a new connection will be made to link the new to existing.
The ground floor of the new facility will comprise of the twin theatres, scrubs, anaesthetics, recovery, consulting rooms, waiting areas and changing whilst the 1stfloor will be dedicated to the building’s plantroom.
The new building will feature a curtain glazed wall entrance with timber cladding and will provide 1450m² of state of the art, bespoke accommodation. The scheme is due for completion September 2019.
